Louis Bernstein began playing drums at age 11. By 12 he was playing in a band with his older brother Michael who played guitar. The band played proms, weddings, and Bar Mitzvahs. Louis also played on the outside with bands his father played with. His father is one of the premier piano players in the city.
At the age of twelve Louis began following the late, great Buddy Rich. He became consumed with collecting ALL of Buddy's recordings and going to every Buddy Rich concert within a 100 mile radius. This obsession with BR led to his desire to collect every type of drum set Buddy used during his career.
Today Louis' vintage drum collection represents the history of drums from the early '20's through the mid '70's.
