Lee Lippman has played clarinet and tenor saxophone with small groups around
the Philadelphia, New Jersey areas and with the big bands of Johnny Dee In
Philadelphia and Frankie French in Ocean City Maryland, Lee played in the pit
band at the Globe burlesque in Atlantic City and at various clubs there. In
the army he was with the 123d infantry band. He gave up the tenor,
preferring the clarinet, which has been his sole instrument in recent years.
Recently he has played at Bob and Barbara’s lounge on South St. and at the
Ortliebs Jazz Hause jam. He has been a regular at 23d St. for five years.
Lee is a well-known painter exhibiting regularly at the Sande Webster Gallery
at 20th & Walnut Sts. And at various venues in Philadelphia and New York.
He studied in Mexico with the great Muralists, and at what is now called the
University of the arts. Lee and His artist wife Arlene Love lived in the rural
mountains north of the City of Oaxaca Mexico for 11 years. Where they produced
and exhibited their works in various Mexican venues. His work is included in
many private, institutional, and corporate collections.
