Bernard Stepien is born and has been raised in Alsace,
France. He started playing folk music on the accordion prior to be hit
with the jazz virus in 1965.
Switched to tenor saxophone in the hot trails of Ornette Coleman, Archie
Shepp and the unavoidable Sonny Rollins. Emigrated to Canada in 1971 where
he has been busy organizing jazz festivals and hosting various radio shows
on local and national networks. His day gig is as a Computer Scientist
currently consulting with Telcordia Technologies in NJ aside from
traveling frequently on consulting
jobs to Europe where even more jam-sessions are awaiting him. He defines
himself as a true amateur musician and is a jam-session addict.
